Malls are busy frantic places. We were tasked to create an area of solitude that would bring people ion, slow them down and give them a chance to arrange themselves and spend time with their families.
We were remarkably happy with the result, especially to see people just sitting and reflecting on our works and engaging with each other. That is the best part of any project!
Client: Culver City Mall
We were commissioned by Urban Art Projects in Brisbane to conceptualise a focal point for the Culver City Mall. The hanging light sculpture we design and constructed was 6.4m (22 feet) in diameter, with a series of bench seats underneath. The lights were made in our studio in New Zealand and the seats were carved in Montana from single Oregon Pine tree trunks left standing after forest fires.
