Canoe Chair

The design for Canoe Chair was developed from Polynesian canoes, seen during time spent sailing among the Pacific Islands. It has the same flexible, lightweight strength. The structure is held in tension by diagonals and string lashings like a yacht's rigging or a canoe's outrigger platform. From this is slung the loose curve of a hull form, that could also be a sail or wave. It is now in the New Zealand embassy in Tokyo.
