"Commissioned by Napier City, New Zealand to mark the dawn of the new millennium in 2000. Ecliptic is the path the sun makes over the sky throughout the year. The sculpture refers to my experiences as a navigator when I used the sun's movement to plot our position. If you stand at the rock on the longest day you will be looking directly at the sunrise underneath the arch." - David Trubridge
