There is a seaweed unique to New Zealand and Tasmania called Neptune's Necklace. It is made up from long strings of bubbles which inspired this design. The name is also used for the string of moons surrounding the planet Neptune.

This artwork was commissioned by Westfield for the Culver City Mall in Los Angeles. The ring of lights seem to spin above a group of solid wooden bench seats which were designed in-house but carved in Montana from fire-killed trees.
