We are pleased to announce the launch of the first of a new range of designs for Hemptech called Traces, derived from pencil 'doodles'. "When I draw them I am in a quiet meditative state, filtering some of my feelings for landscape in an abstract manner, which (hopefully) allows viewers to interpret them in different ways." - David Trubridge
These are the patterns and rhythms of nature, from many lands and on many scales, as hand-drawn by David. The lines take on a life of their own in meandering, spinning textures of life. Each colour combination has been selected from landscape photos that David has taken on his travels around the world. This appealing new print has been designed exclusively for Hemptech by David Trubridge. David Trubridge Design and Hemptech are both New Zealand companies that share the same environmental values and concerns in relation to processes and material choices so it is natural that they came to work with each other.

All the colour variations were also inspired from his travels across the globe. "I have a large collection of landscape photos that I have taken while walking in wild places all around the world. To reinforce the nature connection I chose colour combinations from some of these photos, which then become part of the marketing collateral, and provide the colour name. The name Traces comes from these photos which are my only traces of the many different lands I have walked, from Antarctica to Australia, Iceland to New Zealand."
David’s textile collections are inspired by the natural world that surrounds him and are a result of his interpretations and articulation of this world; they are printed in New Zealand, on sustainable grown 100% natural fibre textiles.
Rings Sheer and Rings Upholstery are the first Collections to be released and are based on drawings from his sketch book drawn whilst traveling by foot through wild places on his travels.
